Studying piano successfully takes dedication on the part of the student and their parents. Music is an important part of a well rounded education. Many studies have shown that children who study music in depth get higher grades in school. Studying the piano is a great way to enrich your child's music education and to open up new possibilities for success in many areas of life.
If you are ready for the type of commitment it takes to learn piano, please read:
Curriculum
Beginners will generally use Faber, Alfred, or Bastien method books. The student will study a method book, a music theory book and a recital or popular pieces book. The cost of books for beginners is about $20.
Intermediate to advanced students will study a method book, music theory and a classical or popular piece of their choice based on their level. Scales, arpeggios and chords are assigned each week. Please provide your child with a composition book or 3-ring binder to keep a record of assignments.
Practice
In order to progress adequately, the student must practice while at home. The assignment sheets clearly outline the scales and pieces to practice for the week. For beginners, I recommend a minimum of 20 minutes 3-4 times per week not counting the lesson. Intermediate to advanced students must practice the amount they need to in order to accomplish the goal for the week which I outline in the assignment sheet.
Tuition
$28 per half hour lesson
$35 per 45 minute lesson
$50 per hour lesson
Payable monthly
